2.7 ui header

During last Friday’s Trion live stream, Gingers detailed some of the new UI adjustments and additions that will be added to RIFT in 2.7 and beyond. Sure, user interface stuff is kind of minor in the grand scheme of things, but in actuality, it can be really important to our ease of access and overall enjoyment of the game. That’s the whole reason most of us love addons, right? MMORPGs are all about customization, even down to the nuts and bolts of the buttons and frames we work with every time we’re online.

Keep reading to take a look at a list of some of the UI changes, additions, and future plans Gingers talked about (for more info you can also check out this forum thread that Gingers has been replying to with regular updates):

Crafting

  • New Expand All/Collapse All buttons are being added to the top of every crafting window. When opened, the window by default will open with everything collapsed, letting you choose which category to expand.
  • The crafting window will now save which part(s) you had expanded and selected when last opened.
  • There will also be a new checkbox option to hide all grey recipes.

Questing

  • There will be an additional row for quest items in the quest menu.

Item Preview

  • The equipment preview window will work similar to the RIFT Store preview window and will let players select/deselect individual pieces of gear as well as preview dyes.

Wardrobe System

  • There will be an extra tab that lets players have double the number of current wardrobe slots.

Achievements

  • We’re finally getting an achievement tracking system and search filter. It works just like quest tracking.
  • More quests and achievements can show up on the right-hand side of the screen through using the same interface option to increase the number of quests that can be tracked.

Macros

  • Trion is currently working on redoing the macro UI to allow players to search/filter through macros.

RIFT Store

  • Trion is working on a system that will let players reverse search for items they find via inspecting other players, etc., which will bring up the item within the RIFT Store.
  • This tech could potentially also be applied to different areas of the UI.

Other

  • There will be additional color options (lotsa colors!) in the user interface frame.
